Pebb Enterprises, seven of whose employees perished in an Ohio plane crash Tuesday, is a Boca Raton-based real estate firm, a close-knit family business with deep ties to Palm Beach County. The company builds new properties and rehabs old ones and is in the process of redoing an old shopping center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Two of those killed were principals in the company and five others were employees, officials say. Only one Pebb employee’s death has been confirmed: Diane Smoot, director of lease administration.

During a 2012 interview, principal Jared Weiner, son of founder and partner Bruce Weiner, talked about the close-knit family business. Jared oversees all of Pebb’s development and growth activities, construction, re-development projects and leasing.
