Bucking national trend, Florida union membership rises

Nationally, union membership is at decades-long low. Only 11.1 percent of U.S. workers were union members last year, down from 20.1 percent in 1983, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says.

But in something of a purple-state conundrum, Florida union membership reached the highest point in recent memory, climbing to 6.8 percent in 2015, up from 5.4 percent in 2005.
