Golf great Greg Norman again is trying to sell his mansion in Hobe Sound, this time for $55 million.

That sum would be the highest price ever paid for a single residential property in Martin County, eclipsing the $38 million billionaire John Malone spent last year on a Jupiter Island mansion. (Tiger Woods paid $44.5 million to assemble several properties on Jupiter Island.)

“It’s an extraordinary piece of property,” said listing agent Adrian Reed of Fenton Lang Bruner & Associates. “It’s really one of the best pieces of real estate in South Florida.”

Twice in recent years, Norman has put the mansion on the market for $65 million. The eight-acre property includes 26,000 square feet of living space.

The home is being marketed online, but it isn’t in the multiple listing service or on Realtor.com. Reed figures buyers of $55 million estates aren’t browsing the MLS.

“There’s only so many buyers at this level,” he said. “It’s just a matter of when the magic happens.”
