In a recent buying binge, Bill Gates has spent $27 million on real estate in Wellington. In the latest deal, the billionaire founder of Microsoft paid $8.7 million for the 5.3-acre property at 13715 Quarter Horse Trail, according to property records.

In April, Gates dropped $5 million for 3128 Mallet Hill Court and 3162 Mallet Hill Court, two vacant lots totaling 2.6 acres. And in March, Gates paid $13.5 million for the 4-acre spread at 3060 Mallet Hill Court.

In all three deals, the buyer is Wellington Trust, whose trustee is Robert Buote of Redmond, Washington.

In 2013, Gates bought a 4.5-acre, $8.7 million home at 3155 Mallet Hill Court. The four properties he has purchased since March are near that property.

Gates’ daughter Jennifer is a show jumper who has competed at Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival.
