Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates snapped up yet another property in Wellington, apparently paying a steep premium for the 1.3-acre lot at 3094 Mallet Hill Court. Gates paid $2.5 million, according to a deed. Palm Beach County’s property appraiser pegged the value at $790,000.
Bill Gates now has spent $30 million on real estate in Wellington. In May, he paid $8.7 million for the 5.3-acre property at 13715 Quarter Horse Trail, according to property records.
In April, Gates dropped $5 million for 3128 Mallet Hill Court and 3162 Mallet Hill Court, two vacant lots totaling 2.6 acres. And in March, Gates paid $13.5 million for the 4-acre spread at 3060 Mallet Hill Court.
In all thee deals, the buyer is Wellington Trust, whose trustee is Robert Buote of Redmond, Washington.
In 2013, Gates bought a 4.5-acre, $8.7 million home at 3155 Mallet Hill Court. The properties he has purchased since March are near that property.
Gates’ daughter Jennifer is a show jumper who has competed at Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival.
