Port St. Lucie, the city known for affordable housing, is getting less affordable. Rents for single-family homes there soared 15 percent in the past year, according to research company RentRange.

That was the fifth-largest rental increase in the nation, trailing only Fort Myers, New Orleans, Seattle and Daytona Beach. The average monthly rent was $1,578 in the second quarter of 2016, up from $1,370 a year earlier, RentRange said.
