Pimp-your-plane workers to lose jobs amid BE Aerospace reorganization

Wellington-based BE Aerospace will close its “super first class” facility in Miami-Dade County and lay off 53 workers.

In a letter last week to state and county officials, BE Aerospace said “a permanent shutdown” of its super first class facility in Medley is scheduled for December. The operations, which make luxe interiors for planes, will move to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Shares of BE Aerospace (Nasdaq: BEAV) are up 20 percent this year, making it the top-performing stock among publicly traded companies headquartered in Palm Beach County.
