Ousted from its old-Florida spot, Scuba Club finds new home

Back in March, Scuba Club General Manager J.D. Duff worried about the survival of his business. The Scuba Club‘s new landlord was kicking him out of the club’s longtime location on the north end of West Palm Beach, and Duff didn’t think he’d find a waterfront spot as perfect as 4708 N. Flagler Drive.

Now, Duff is back in business — but the setup isn’t as convenient as the one he’d enjoyed for years. He moved the Scuba Club’s boat to the Riviera Beach Marina, and the business’s offices are three miles away on Northlake Boulevard.

The Scuba Club no longer has a pool, and its shop isn’t steps away from its boat. On the bright side, though, its occupancy costs have plummeted.

“That was a cool place, but the overhead was just astronomical,” Duff said.

The Scuba Club’s old home sold earlier this year for $3.8 million.
