Florida schools bring in more donations, but results are mixed


Florida’s colleges and universities brought in $820 million in gifts in 2016, a 7.4 percent increase from 2015’s $764 million, according to data released Tuesday by the Council for Aid to Education.

The University of Florida raked in $244 million, a 13 percent increase from 2015. The University of Miami raised $236 million, a 22 percent jump from 2015.

Others didn’t fare so well. Florida Atlantic University’s gifts shrank to $12.9 million, a 19 percent drop. USF and UCF also saw declines.

Harvard topped all schools in the United States, bringing in nearly $1.2 billion.
